The full form of MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. An MBBS degree is an undergraduate course for those students who want to become a Doctor. The course duration of MBBS is 5.5 years including an academic course of 4.5 years and an internship of 1 year. In India, the selection of candidates to pursue MBBS, is done on the basis of merit, which is determined by a competitive entrance test – NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate) conducted by the National Testing Agency every year. One has to complete his 12th Standard in Medical stream (having subjects PCB-Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in order to appear for the exam.
